Boys & Girls yarning circles

Monday, April 30th, 2012

In March, NWAICA started a trial program of yarning circles at local schools and targeted community, as a part of NWAICA’s Sport & Recreation initiatives. The first yarning circle for 2012 started at Grovely State School with a Boys Yarn. The group has about 14 young men who attend weekly meetings and learn about themselves, their community and talk about issues relevant to them.
A Girls Yarn has started at Everton Park State High. Both the Boys and Girls Yarns include a healthy breakfast option. Thanks to all staff and community volunteers who are participating in these groups.

On 3rd April 2012, NWAICA ran the third “Big Day Out” for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at Holy Rosary School in Windsor. The day was hugely successful. Over 100 individuals attended and they enjoyed themselves. A big thank you to everyone who contributed, helped or came along.
